摘要:

&NA;An important service provided by public school physical therapists is education for special education personnel. In‐service programs given by physical therapists should be based on an educational needs assessment that is responsive to the special educators' identified professional needs. The purpose of the Educational Needs Assessment (ENA) was to identify specific physical therapy related needs of special educators in order to plan and implement practical in‐service workshops. The goals were to improve the utilization of physical therapy services in the school system, and to facilitate professional teamwork thereby promoting an optimal learning environment for the students with special needs. The results of the needs assessment were used to plan and implement an in‐service training program for special education and regular education personnel. In‐service education based on participants' identified training needs can be beneficial for all involved in the educational programming of children with special needs.
