The honey-hunting scene in the rock shelter at Bicorp in eastern Spain is well known; it was reported in1924and has been reproduced many times, either complete(e.g. inHoney: a comprehensive surveyed. E. Crane, 1975)or showing only the honey hunter at the bees' nest(e.g. inBeekeeping in antiquityby H. M. Fraser, 1931, 1951).Dr. Lya Dams and her husband have recently found and recorded a number of other paintings of bees, and some of honey hunting, in other caves and shelters in the same area. These are described and illustrated here; the most dramatic(Fig.3)is also being published as a poster(see pageiii),at about its natural size.
