Nine species of brissid echinoids are described from Eocene to Miocene strata of Victoria, South Australia and the southern part of Western Australia. Redescribed areGillechinus cudmoreiFell 1964a;Brissopsis tateiHall 1907;Brissopsis praeluzonicaFell 1964b;Cyclaster archeri(Tenison Woods 1867);Granobrissoides australiae(Cotteau 1889);Meoma tuberculataHutton 1873 andSpatagobrissus laubei(Duncan 1877).Brissus fosteriandBrissopsis australisare described as new.Brissopsis praeluzonicais described from outside New Zealand for the first time.Micraster brevistellaLaube 1869;Hemiaster positaHutton 1873;Cyclaster morganiCotteau 1889; andCyclaster lycoperdonBittner 1892 are all placed in synonymy withCyclaster archeri. GranobrissoidesLambert 1920 is reinstated to generic status andG. australiaedescribed in detail for the first time. The late Middle MioceneEupatagus laubeiDuncan 1877 is placed inSpatagobrissus, a genus hitherto known only from the living South African speciesS. mirabilisH. L. Clark 1923.
