The adult patient often requires more than one surgical procedure. Complete evaluation including chief complaint, past medical history, social history, and past spinal treatment history by an experienced spine surgeon will result in a recommendation for appropriate spine surgical care. Variations occur in each treatment plan; therefore, the patient must have a complete understanding of the plan individualized for him.
