AbstractThe actual influence and potential power that scientists may exert on society are contrasted with various aspects of moral responsibility. Maintaining scientific standards, training and helping younger colleagues, and dissemination of scientific knowledge should not, however, obscure the main duty of a scientist, which is simply a constant search for truth.
