AbstractCurrent patent practice and procedure derives from the comprehensive reforms of the Patents Act, 1949. In view of the substantial changes in the economic and industrial environment, the evolution of the EEC under the Treaty of Rome and more sophisticated attitudes towards monopolies, the time is obviously ripe now for the system to be strengthened and modernized.
