The dependence of photosynthetic yields on both sodium adsorption ratio and osmotic pressure of irrigation water in Vicia faba seedlings is discussed. Bean seedlings were exposed to C14O2in closed photosynthetic chambers for 24 h, in the same way described in Part 1 of this series. The chromatographic study of aqueous and alcoholic extracts as well as the acid hydrolysed tissue is described in a collective manner. Data concerning soluble sugars and mineral contents are being represented. The respiration rates of three-week seedlings are compared with their photosynthetic metabolites.
