A simple instrumental variable identification algorithm is proposed which uses binary shift register sequences as both system inputs and as instrumental variables. The algorithm is recursive and hence may be used for on-line identification; further it yields two algorithms which are directly implementable for multi-input—multi-output system identification. The results of several computational experiments are presented.
