Now that highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) is widely available for the treatment of HIV infection, greater attention is being paid to when and how to use it most effectively. Data presented at the 5th International Congress on Drug Therapy in HIV Infection [Glasgow, UK; October 2000] suggest that there is a growing need for regular therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in certain cases.
