Most Americans think rickets, scurvy, goiter, night blindness, deprivation dwarfism and widespread tooth decay have disappeared from the United States. But these conditions are still with us, as the report from the first phase of the National Nutrition Survey reveals. Drs. Arnold E. Schaefer and Ogden C. Johnson, directors of the study, recently reported to the Senate. Using their testimony as a base, we here present their findings to the medical and allied professions for the first time.
