Abstract(o‐Hydroxyphenyl)methylphosphonic acids are readily obtained fromo‐(bromomethyl)‐ oro‐(hydroxymethyl)phenols and trialkyl phosphites. Subsequent hydrolysis leads to the corresponding phosphonic acids. For a series of such compounds, the pKavalues have been determined by potentiometry.
