The counter stand is described. As main counter, a gas needle counter, working in conditions of deep reduced proportionality is used. The counter characteristics and experimental as well as theoretical results of the gas amplification analysis are given. The detection efficiency is equal to 100 per cent in the case of samples 10 mm in diameter, and reaches 85 per cent in the case of maximum samples with a diameter of 16 mm. The background is about to 0.04 cpm. As preliminary measurements, the radioactivity of lead, the changes of this radioactivity, the nonstimulated electron exoemission of the metallic surfaces in darkness and measurements of the87Rb half-life are reported.
