摘要:

In the post-war world there are bound to be innovations in measuring instruments, among which is the electricity meter, a vital auxiliary in electricity generation and supply, involving makers, users and various authorities. The author gives a meter engineer's impressions of conditions, of hopes and disappointments, of past and possible developments. General considerations and requirements as to the electricity meter are then presented, particular emphasis being laid upon the necessity for stability in the most thorough sense, and dimensional standardization is examined. The author proposes that future meters should take one recognizably similarnationalform, the present British Standard being broadened and made more definite for the purpose. Suggestions to this end are made, and some consideration is given to the proposed National Electricity Meter in practice.
