摘要:

ABSTRACTA homokaryotic fruiting strain of a red pigmented yeast in the genusRhodosporidiumwas isolated from brackish waters of the Miami River. Using molecular techniques,viz., determination of the guanine + cytosine contents of the nuclear DNA and extent of DNA hybridizations, the strain was compared with taxonomically similar species inRhodotorula, RhodosporidiumandSporidiobolus.On the basis of these results, a new species,Rhodosporidium fluviale, is described.
