The reaction usually produces pruritus, erythema, and eczema. Patch tests are not usually needed; a clinical diagnosis is readily made when the allergen no longer touches the skin and the rash disappears quickly. Management also includes treating the presenting dermatitis and suggesting allergy-free alternatives.
