摘要:

Using the well-known Stone-Weierstrass theorem, the paper proves that (real valued) continuous functions can be approximated uniformly by polynomials in solutions of elliptic differential equations. Moreover, the article discusses the question how many solutions are necessary in order to generate a subring of such polynomials whose closure is dense in the ring of continuous functions.
