Terminal moraines in the district of Arriba, Värmland, Western Sweden. At Lake Racken, 7 kilometers NE of Arvika, the terminal moraine area shown in Fig. 1 is found. The moraines are situated in front of a small valley. At the sides of this, they bend north-eastwards and follow the direction of the valley. In the upper part of the valley, glacial striæ from S 70° E are seen. The normal direction in this district is about N 10° E. These striæ and terminal moraines show that there has been a small valley glacier, coming from the depression around Lake Alken, NE of Racken. The movement of the valley glacier has probably continued only for a short time. Then the ice has become dead, which is shown by ablation moraine around Lake Alken and in the upper part of the valley towards Lake Racken.
