In recent years there has been a growing interest in economic projections, especially with respect to the production and consumption of foods. In some quarters there has been growing concern over prospective grave world food shortages. In Canada, on the other hand, we face a need of economic adjustments to bring production of certain agricultural products into line with effective demand. As economic adjustments tend to be painful and costly and take several years to complete those doing the adjusting need to forecast production and demand trends.
