Major RICHARD CARLYSLE CADY died January 15, 1943, at the age of 35 years, as a result of accidental injuries received on January 3, while on duty overseas in the United states Army. He had been engaged for about a year in locating well‐sites to develop water‐supplies for military establishments in Africa and Asia. He was buried with full military honors in a British military cemetery in Africa. He leaves a wife, Mrs. Beatrice Dunn Cady, two sons—Richard, Jr., and James, aged 8 and 5, respectively—and his parents, Dr. and Mrs. James D. Cady.Major Cady was born in Cortland, New York, August 7, 1907, graduated from Colgate University, and did postgraduate work in Colgate and Harvard. He was appointed in the Geological Survey, United States Department of the Interior, in 1930, and from 1931 until he began his work in Africa he served continuously in the Ground‐Water Division of the Geological Survey.
