Decision making is now considered a basic function ol all nurse leaders. Yet many nurses remain unaware ol how they make decisions and thus arc unable to examine or change their decision-making processes. In this article, the Vroom and Yetton model ol decision making is presented as a mechanism through which nurse Managers can examine and improve their decision-making behavior. Four nursing decision situations are presented and are analyzed by use ol diagnostic questions and decision rules from the Vroom and Yetton model
