An analysis is given for the energy exchange between a focused laser beam and free relativistic electrons in a circular orbit in a uniform magnetic field. Curves are presented to illustrate the dependence of this coupling on the various system parameters. Applications for inverse synchrotron interaction include electron acceleration and amplification of electromagnetic radiation.
