In many areas, the technology of the future has often been applied to the problems of today with disappointing results. This article attempts to outline a more balanced approach to CIM, a balance between technology, organisation and the most important asset any company possesses, its people (i.e. the human-centred approach). This approach is still in its infancy, but is steadily gaining ground by proving its industrial worth.
