摘要:

Following the 116th meeting of the American Astronomical Society at Arizona State College in Flagstaff this past summer. Leo Goldberg, professor of astronomy at Harvard University, succeeded to the presidency of the AAS. Dr. Goldberg has served in various official capacities with the International Astronomical Union, the Space Science Board, the Scientific Advisory Board, the Geophysics Panel, and other professional groups. In research, through his work in spectroscopy, he has been able to detect carbon monoxide, some of the heavy isotopes of carbon dioxide, and other compounds in the sun, and has determined the chemical composition and temperatures of several other stars. Dr. Goldberg is a member of the American Physical Society and a foreign associate of the Royal Astronomical Society of England.
