AbstractThe steam volatile leaf oils ofMelaleuca cordataTurcz.,M. halmaturorumF. Muell. ex Miq. subsp.cymbifolia(Benth.) Barlow,M. incanaR.Br.,M. lanceolataOtto subsp.planifoliaBarlow,M. rhaphiophyllaSchauer,M. sheathianaW. Fitzg,M.sp.aff.sheathianaandM. uncinataR.Br.sensu latowere analysed by GC‐MS. The oils were entirely terpenoid with the exception ofM. halmaturorumvar.cymbifoliawhich contained small amounts of baeckeol. Whilst 1,8‐cineole was a major constituent of most oils, terpinen‐4‐ol was the chief constituent ofM. unci
