Femoral artery psudoaneurysms following invasive anglographic procedurres are an increasingly common phenomenon, especially since the advent of thrombolytic therapy and the use of larger arterial catheters. This article describes the citical care nurse's role in identifying and assessing at risk for pseudoaneurysms, managing a patient who development his complication, and assisting with treatment. Preventing pseudoaneurysms-and recognizing them promptly if they occur-can reduce patient hospitalization and mortality.
