Disease management initiatives are being adopted by more and more healthcare organisations as a way to improve outcomes and reduce costs for their chronically ill populations. And as disease management becomes an integral part of managed care, many disease management programmes are starting to look alike. However, several recent reports indicate new developments in the field of disease management - with 'assemble'-type programmes set to take over in the US and a behavioural approach emerging in Australia.
