摘要:

AbstractThe author contrasts U.S. commercial television with the national obligations of Canadian television, which permit the latter to maintain civilized standards and encourage freedom of speech. He believes that a truly public alternative to commercial television is needful, but is apprehensive lest new technology be simply commercialized yet again.
