Emu 82: 42–45.A study was conducted into the conservation requirements of the isolated population of the Red-tailed Black-CockatooCalyptorhynchus magnificusin south-eastern South Australia and south-western Victoria. The range and status of the population are clarified and earlier suggestions of the population's dependence on Brown StringybarkEucalyptus baxteriare confirmed. An additional food source, BulloakCasuarina luehmanniiis reported. The population's breeding requirements are still poorly known. Clearing ofE. baxteriis the main threat to the population's existence.
