Cataract surgery remains an extremely successful procedure with a very low rate of complications. The advances in surgical techniques and implant varieties have greatly altered the nature and occurrence of complications. As an example, implant dislocations were common a decade ago but are a rarity today. The sophistication of surgery and of manufacturing have resulted in a reduced likelihood for untoward effects of cataract removal and lens implantation. Presently occurring complications are categorized according to the symptoms.
