The paper outlines an approach to cost-benefit analysis for ergonomics. Two complementary measures are proposed, one for performance changes and one for attitude modifications. An example of the selection procedure for isolating the variables to be measured is then presented, followed by a report of a deeper investigation into one of the variables, which provides an example of how each of the variables, with its interacting influences, is to be explored.
