The inauguration of John Herbert Hollomon, as the eighth president of the University of Oklahoma since its founding in 1890, was a day‐long series of events. It started in the early morning of October 18 with the official Inaugural Ceremony, which was preceded by the registration and robing of delegates and the customary Academic Procession. The open‐air site of the ceremony was the South Oval of the university campus. Like so many campuses of state universities, Oklahoma is expanding rapidly from a peaceful and pleasant old campus on the north, to a heterogeneous modernistic medley on the south.
