摘要:
Automatic sensor stations that can monitor mountain snowpacks and warn of possible avalanches and instruments that can predict the spring and summer runoff of a snowpack may be two new products of microwave technology, according to scientists at the U.S. National Bureau of Standards (NBS).For the third straight winter, scientists from the NBS Boulder, Colorado, laboratories will leave the warm confines of their laboratories, and hauling microwave analysis and measuring equipment by toboggan into mountain passes and other backcountry areas of the Rocky Mountains, they will make microwave measurements the snowpack—measurements that should enable them to tell the composition and moisture content of the snowpac

To broaden the number of topics covered and to increase the frequency of publication in the series, the Board of Associate Editors for the Water Resources Monograph Series aims to release 4–6 outstanding monographs each year. Authors who are interested in helping to achieve this goal are invited to prepare an outline for consideration by the Board. The Board will review the outlines of proposed volumes for acceptability of subject, its treatment for the series, as well as its suitability for the intended audience. The outline must be complete enough to allow the Board to see the development of the presentatio
