摘要:
An experiment to identify changes in water mass properties as a result of sea ice growth and deformation was conducted in a 110×110 km region of the Antarctic pack ice near 64°S, 140°E in August 1995. This was the first intensive winter‐time study in this region, which is thought to be high in ice production and active in bottom water formation [Foster, 1995;Gordon and Tchernia, 1972]. The information gathered is important in understanding the role sea ice plays in the climate system and for developing and validating combined ocean‐ice‐atmospher

摘要:
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently requesting proposals for its first round of science research grants for 1997. The program is designed to promote interdisciplinary research in ecosystem indicators; exploratory research; complex exposures and human variability in risk assessment; endocrine disrupters; ambient air quality; health effects of particulate matter; and drinking water and contaminated sediments. Application dates vary by topic between January 15 and February 15, 1997. Further information about the grants program can be obtained on the EPA web page at http://www.epa.gov/ncerqa, or by calling the EPA grants and fellowship hotline at 1‐800‐490

摘要:
The relationship of Jurassic magmatic arc rocks to the tectonic evolution of the North American Cordilleran continental margin is a principle theme of Geological Society of America Special Paper 299. The volume gives readers a comprehensive view of the early stages of magmatic arc evolution on a continental margin and is a tribute to the contributions of Richard Lee Armstrong, whose pioneering studies provide a framework for current geologic investigations of the North American Cordillera.
