摘要:
SummarySentence comprehension has been analyzed in 50 German speaking aphasics by means of the “Three‐Figures‐Test”. The patients belonged to the five major clinical groups of LEISCHNER's classification: amnestic (10), motor‐amnestic (=Broca) (10), sensory‐amnestic (=Wernicke) (10), mixed (10) and total (global) (10). The 50 cases were predominantly of vascular origin (44), and inpatients of the Aphasia Clinic at Bonn.Quantitative analysis of the data showed a significant decrease of comprehension in the order: amnestic, motor‐amnestic and sensory‐amnestic, mixed and total. The Broca and Wernicke groups were comparable as to comprehension impairment on the DFT. A cut‐off score of eight errors distinguished significantly between a “low” and a “high” comprehension group. The borderline between these two groups cut across the Broca and the Wernicke groups. Qualitative error analysis showed that the high and the low comprehension groups differed in the relation of lexical and syntactical errors. The results of this study indicate a relatively good correspondence between disorders of expression and re

摘要:
SummaryThis paper describes the necessity for, and the development of an assessment for dysarthria. The short easy assessment described has been found to have acceptable inter‐rater reliability, even between Speech Therapists who have not been trained to use the test. The clinical value of the test has been proven with its use with more than a hundred patients. However, there are several areas that point to the necessity of further researc

摘要:
SummaryThis study investigates the ability of aphasic and nonlanguage impaired adults to form concepts using the reversal‐nonreversal paradigm popularized by Kendler. Results indicate a significant difference between the groups to form and then switch concepts. Aphasic subjects perform similarly to the normal subjects on this task but at a slower rate. Implications for therapy and further research are give

摘要:
SummaryA short form of the Porch Index of Communicative Ability was derived from results of testing 184 dysphasic patients. A short form consisting of the items, pencil, key, matches, comb and fork was found to correlate highly with the full PICA. Results of retesting 51 patients indicates that shortening the test produces some loss of sensitivity to change when subtests are considered but negligible loss for the scales or overall score.

摘要:
AbstractThe prerequisites of a procedure for child speech assessment are discussed with reference to the traditional articulation test technique. Three commercially published articulation tests, that are in current use in British speech therapy services, are reviewed in regard to the criteria outlined in the introductory section. Two formal analytical assessment procedures that have recently been published, are described and evaluated. The need for an applicable, clinically relevant framework of phonological analysis and assessment is emphasised.
