摘要:
The study of the effect of stresses on reactivity is of principal importance and could be considered one of the important problems in organic chemistry. This problem also relates to the chemistry of high-molecular weight compounds, specifically in polymer degradation and stabilization. When processed and exploited, polymers are often subjected to a simultaneous action of stresses and aggressive media. It is not possible for one to conduct a search for an efficient means of stabilizing the polymers without understanding the effect of stresses on chemical reaction kinetics.

摘要:
In a controlled release system a drug, pesticide, or other bio-active agent is incorporated into a carrier, generally a polymeric material. The rate of release of the substance is determined by the properties of the polymer itself and is only weakly dependent on environmental factors (such as the pH of bodily fluids). Controlled release systems are capable of delivering substances slowly and continuously for up to several years.

Many mechanistic aspects of emulsion polymerization processes remain unclear, despite their industrial importance. Thus, for example, several different mechanisms have been postulated for the formation of latex particles (for recent reviews, see Refs. 1 and 2), and for the capture of free radicals by these latex particles [3,4], The origin of such problems is that there are a large number of mechanistic processes which may reasonably be assumed to be significant in the formation and growth of latex particles. Any theoretical model used for data interpretation with a view to extracting specific mechanistic information must perforce contain many rate parameters which are either peculiar to an emulsion polymerization system or whose values, while obtainable in principle from different experiments, are subject to considerable uncertainty. Given limited experimental data, therefore, it is frequently possible to find “evidence” to support several mutually incompatible mechanisms for the various steps involved.
