摘要:

Following previous work by Meyer it is shown how a general triangle in a homogeneous finite strain field can be transformed using Mohr's circle. Then as an application a general expression is given to determine principal components from rosettes in finite strain fields. The results obtained will be useful in the analysis of grid data.

摘要:

The important features of the photoelastic coating technique are described and the effects of shear lag and differential thermal expansion are outlined. Applications of the technique in the study of stresses in components of internal combustion engines are presented and the significant influence the work has exerted on the development and optimisation of these components is shown.
