摘要:
The class of aryl sulfonamides was studied in order to nominate chemicals to the Chemical Selection Working Group as candidates for carcinogenesis bioassay. After application of several qualifying criteria relating to previous, current, or planned carcinogenicity tests and to commercial significance, the preliminary candidate list of 189 chemicals was reduced to a list of 89 chemicals. Based upon consideration of both the suspicion of possible carcinogenic activity and evidence indicating potential exposure, the following five chemicals were nominated: sulfanilamide, sulfamethazine, sulfathiazole, sulfamethizole, and salicylazosulfapyridine.

摘要:
The metals of environmental, biological or commercial importance were studied in order to nominate chemicals as candidates for carcinogen bioassay to the National Cancer Institute. After the application of several qualifying criteria that related to previous, current or planned carcinogenicity tests, and to commercial significance, the preliminary candidate list of 1,383 chemicals was reduced to a final candidate list of 488 chemicals. Based upon consideration of both the suspicion of possible carcinogenic activity and evidence of potential human forty‐six chemicals were nominated.

摘要:
The extraction efficiency of the benzene/methanol azeotrope for organic carbon in atmospheric particulate matter was determined using a carbon types analyzer and also radio‐labeled tracers and liquid scintillation spectroscopy. A twenty‐four hour Soxhlet extraction with the azeotrope extracts 76 percent of the organic carbon, 15 percent of the elemental carbon, and 61 percent of the total carbon. Nonpolar and moderately polar organic compounds such as dotriacontane, benzo(a)pyrene, and stearic acid are extracted with 95 percent recovery. Highly polar oxygenated species such as succinic acid are extracted with an efficiency of 82 percent. The Soxhlet extractor was more efficient than ultrasonication for the extraction of highly polar species.

摘要:
A single particle diffusion model for estimation of effectiveness factor for a substrate inhibited encapsulated immbolized enzyme particle of spherical shape, which considers both internal and external diffusional resistances has been extended to study the performance of a continuous flow stirred tank reactor (CFSTR) system. The effect of membrane thickness, Sherwood Number, dimensionless inhibitor constant, characteristic CFSTR‐encapsulated enzyme particle parameter, and the ratio of the substrate diffusion coefficients on the substrate conversion are investigated parametrically. The numerical results are obtained for a range of variables of practical importance.
