摘要:
Two VDTs were tested to determine their impact on the DC electrical environment. Characteristics of the DC environment were measured — ion concentration, ion current density and DC electric field. Measures of particulate levels, temperature and humidity were included since these factors are known to influence the DC environment. Ion concentrations, especially negative ion concentrations, varied as a function of distance from the VDTs, with the lowest values observed in the immediate vicinity of the VDTs for both models tested. This effect was slight and within the range of expected indoor values for ion concentrations. DC electric fields were generally found to be higher during VDT operation compared to controls, although they were within the same order of magnitude as commonly experienced fields due to charges on materials (e.g. clothing, carpet) indoors. Particulate levels were not observed to be altered by VDT operation.

摘要:
As an enzyme which participates in the release of orthophosphate (DRP) from organic phosphorus, alkaline phosphatase activity was measured in seawater of Tokyo Bay. Alkaline phosphatase activity found in the present Tokyo Bay is now correlated negatively with DRP concentration, whereas the correlation was positive 10 years ago. This change can be attributed to an increase over the past ten years in DRP concentration above the 7 μg P/L threshold for inhibition of alkaline phosphatase production for the microbial habitants in Tokyo Bay.

摘要:
A study was carried out using human kidney samples to elucidate any significant connection between the concentration of cadmium in the kidney cortex and the cardiovascular diseases. The samples were wet‐digested using 1:1 analytical grade nitric acid, and analyzed for cadmium using a Perkin Elmer flame atomic absorption spectronphometer model 403.

摘要:
This paper presents a study on the effects of ‐Cu (2+), Zn (2+) and Ni (2+) in activated sludge, focussing on their influence in COD removal efficiency. Experiments have been done at different heavy metals ‐concentrations varying from 1 to 25 mg/1. Cu (2+) exhibits the higher detrimental effect, followed by Zn (2+) and Ni (2+). Mixtures of these heavy metals show a less than a less than additive effect.
