摘要:
The spreading of an oil slick on calm water surface and in the presence of shallow water waves was simulated in laboratory conditions. A long channel provided with a mechanical waves generator was filled with tap water, and the spreading rates of different types of crude oils released instantaneously were measured on the surface of calm water. The experiments were repeated at various dynamic conditions of the water surface modeled with the waves generator. The spreading rate of oil in the direction of wave propagation were usually greater under the wavy conditions as against the calm water conditions. The measured spreading rate increments due to gravity wave action were usually higher than the surface drift velocities predicted by the Stokes theory. It has been confirmed that the velocity of an oil slick increases exponentially with the wave steepness. However, physical properties of crude oil such as viscosity, surface tension and specific gravity do not significantly influence the surface drift of spilled oil induced by the shallow waves.

摘要:
The literature was reviewed for nitrate leaching under irrigation. The mass of nitrate leached is directly related to the percolation volume. Both water management and nitrogen managementareimportant in controlling nitrate leaching. Applying only enough nitrogen fertilizer to meet yield goals, timing of nitrogen application and the use of slow release fertilizers are nitrogen management practices that will reduce nitrate leaching. There have been a number of nitrogen simulation models that have been developed, but there is a lack of field data to validate the models.

摘要:
The concentration of carbon dioxide in office building was used to monitor indoor air quality. A total of one hundred and one (111) measurements was carried out in five buildings during the last three years. The number of measurements was grouped into five concentration ranges of carbon dioxide. This concentration distributions were then related to the building occupant's complaints and the amount of fresh make‐up air from outdoor. Higher carbon dioxide concentration was demonstrated as an indicator of poor air quality in the office building. This technique appeared to be sufficiently sensitive and could provide building managers a timely and inexpensive tool for office building ventilation surveillance.

摘要:
A study was conducted to determine the effects of ozonation on the removal of iron(II) and manganese(II) at different pH values in a pure water system. It has been found that the rates of oxidation of iron(II) and manganese(II) follow a 7.ero‐order reaction. The respective values of detention time and applied ozone dosage for removal of 4 mg/L of iron(II) were 10–15 min and 3–5 mg/L, as compared to 20–30 min and 4–6 mg/L for the removal of 4 mg/L of manganese(II). No iron(II) and manganese(II) were detected in the pure water system above the pH values of 7 and 9, respectively.

A kinetic study was carried out to determine the effects of ozonation on the removal of iron(II) and manganese(II) at different pH values in the presence of model organic compounds possessing structural features of humic acid. The order of reaction for ozone oxidation of iron (II) in the presence of different model organic compounds varied from zero to three. In some cases the order of reaction appeared to be above three indicating the reaction to be too fast. The total organic carbon (TOC) decreased considerably as a result of ozonation.

A field experiment was conducted at Stratford Research Station, Stratford, Oklahoma to evalute the effect of foliar opray phosphorus on Spanish peanut yield(Arachis hypogea)with regard to the rates of gypsum and phosporus application to soil. Three levels of P (0, 45, and 90 kg/ha) and four levels of gypsum (0, 336, 672, and 1009 kg/ha) which consisted of 12 treatment combinations was applied. Potassium monobasic phosphate (KH2PO4) solution with the P concentration of 0.35% was used as a foliar spray. Results from two years data indicated that foliar spray P increased yield, total kernel content (TKC), and percent sound mature kernel (%SMK) of Spanish peanuts significantly regardless of gypsum and P application rate to the soil. Gypsum application significantly increased the yield, TKC, and %SMK up to 672 kg/ha. Increasing the gypsum rate to 1009 kg/ha decreased the yield and TKC. Foliar spray P in combination with 676 kg/ha gypsum produced the highest yield. Phosphorus application to the soil did not change the yield of Spanish peanuts significantly. However, P in combination with low rates of gypsum increased the yield.
