A study of the direct incorporation of32P‐labelled phosphate intoDaphniasp. and channel catfish revealed a rapid uptake of phosphate in the Daphnids which peaked at approximately two hours. Following a slight decline in measured radioactivity, the Daphnids maintained a steady level of radioactive phosphate (800 x 103dpm/mg) during the remaining 48 hours of the experiment. Catfish exposed directly to 10 mCi H332PO4in 20 liters of water for two weeks incorporated labelled phosphate in detectable quantitles in all tissues examined. Bioconcentration occurred only in heart, brain, liver, and bone; whereas gill, stomach, and kidney activities remained constant. In a bioaccumulation study where32P‐labelled Daphnids were fed to fingerling catfish,32P appeared to bioaccumulate in the bone, gill, brain, and kidney. .Questionable accumulation in the liver and no bioaccumulation in. heart, muscle, and stomach was observed.

摘要:
The nonionic macroreticular resin XAD‐2 efficiently recovers many volatile organic compounds from distilled water. Changing from distilled water to sewage as the extraction matrix reduced recoveries of chlorinated phenols by approximately 20 percent primarily as a result of the phenols being adsorbed by filterable particulates in the sewage. The breakthrough of sewage occurs at about 130 column volumes and is pH dependent. The capacity of the resin is 1.7 mg TOC/cc of resin and independent of pH. The resin recovers about 30 percent of the TOC in sewage. Most of the organic material extracted by the resin is non‐volatile as far as GC analysis is concerned.

摘要:
To increase the understanding of the significance and utility of compliance monitoring information, a concept of data evaluation is presented. The proposed evaluation technique includes: a) the use of standardized test information fonts, b) calculation (via computer) and printout of data reliability and suitability information, c) the classification of results into one of four use‐categories, and d) a statistical expression of the probability of compliance.

Several chelating agents, both synthetic and natural, were selected for a study on their effects on the growth of hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillataRoyle). These were disodium ethylenedinitrilotetraacetate dihydrate, Na2EDTA.2H2.O; ethyl‐enediamino‐N,N'‐diacetic acid, EDDA; disodiumtrans‐1,2‐diaminocyclohexanetetra‐acetic acid, Na2CDTA; ethyleneglycolbis(aminoethyl)tetraacetic acid, EGTA; and the natural chelators present in Lake Starvation (Hillsborough County, Florida) water. These chelating agents, in well‐water solutions, were incubated with hydrilla. Dissolved oxygen and dissolved carbon (inorganic and organic) were measured, and these values were related to hydrilla growth. In addition, values of calcium present were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry and by a calcium ion electrode. Only EGTA solutions exhibited anomalous behavior, and this is attributed to exceptional stability of Ca‐EGTA complexes and the effect on the response of the electrode. Results are compared with other natural water samples.
