摘要:
A sample of weathered, surface‐retorted oil shale was analyzed for organic compounds using capillary gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/computer techniques. Various biological markers were identified including isoprenoid hydrocarbons, stearanes and terpanes, along with other classes of organic compounds including alkanes, fatty acids, alkylbenzenes, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. The origin and environmental significance of these compounds are discussed.

Beef cattle feedlot manure at 0, 6.7, 20.2, and 40.4 mt/ha and anaerobically digested municipal sewage sludge at 0, 11.2, 33.6, and 67.2 mt/ha were applied and incorporated into an acid (pH 5.6) Byler loam soil (Typic Fragiudalf) for two consecutive years. Corn (Zea mays L.) and sorghum (Sorghum vulgare L.) were grown in replicated plots (6.1m × 4.6m). At the end of each year, soil samples were taken at 0 to 20 cm and 20 to 40 cm depths. They were analyzed for available calcium, magnesium, and potassium (IN NH4‐acetate extractable, pH 7).

Anaerobically digested sewage sludge at 11.2, 33.6, and 67.2 metric tons/ha and farm manure at 6.7, 20.2, and 40.4 metric tons/ ha rates were applied annually for two consecutive years to an acid Byler loam soil (Typic Fragiudalf) cropped to corn (Zea mays L.) and sorghum (Sorghum vulgare L.). A recommended NPK check was included. Available P (1% (NH4)2SO4in 0.05N H2SO4‐ extractable) levels in the soil were determined after crop harvest in the ensuing spring, each of the two years. Levels of available P in the organic amended plots did not increase significantly in the surface soil (0 to 20cm) layer the first year. Some movement of P into the subsurface soil (20 to 40cm) layer was observed, however. Significant buildup of available P due to the organic amendments was observed in the surface soil layer with little movement below 20cm during the second year.

A reaction scheme is proposed to explain theH2SO4aerosolformation experimentally observed in O3‐alkene‐SO2systems in terms of adduct formation between SO2and a Criegee intermediate. The reaction scheme also provides the basis for a homogeneous gas‐phase flue‐gas desulfurízatíon process.

摘要:
Concentrations of some potentially hazardous heavy metals such as Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Zinc (Zn), and Nickel (Ni) were investigated in particulates and road side surface dust in Bangkok Metropolitan Area. A total of 190 air samples and 270 surface dust samples were collected and analysed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer. The analysis shows that the maximum concentration of these metals in the air is below Threshold Limit Values (TLV) and is dependent upon parameters such as precipitation, wind speed, traffic volume, and congestion. Automobiles are found major sources of these pollutants.

摘要:
The size distribution of car exhaust pollutants have been determined in a confined atmosphere with high‐volume cascade impactor. Lead, C,manganese and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) collected on filters resulted in the following distribution: 60% of the Pb and Cd were found in particles of submicrometer aerodynamic diameter whilst more than 80% of the PAH were found to be absorbed on particles smaller than 1.1 μm. Mn exhibits an opposite trend being observed predominantly in coarse particles. The characteristics of the indoor exhaust aerosol were compared to those observed in the general environment and at the emission source.
