摘要:
This paper presents the proposals of “task force” reports on agriculture and that on natural resources. It also outlines the recommendations presented in the majority report of the Hoover Commission which uses parts of both reports and that of the minority reports which closely followed the ideas of the natural resources group.

摘要:
Manitoba has a large fishery production harvested both by commercial fishermen and by anglers. This fishery, yielding annually on an average over 32,000,000 pounds of all species of fish, is made possible by the 26,789 square miles of lakes and streams which are within the province.

摘要:
The scale method of growth analysis is applicable to the Lake of the Woods saugers and the body-scale relationship was described by a third degree poly-nominal. Saugers up to Age Class X were studied and the most rapid growth in length occurred during the first year of life. Lee's phenomenon was pronounced and was apparently due to the selective removal of the faster growing fish. Weight increased approximately as the 3,058 power of the standard length and the average “K” was 1.27. Females were more abundant than males. The number of eggs per female varied from 43,400–48,500. There appeared to be a correlation between the abundance of saugers in various year classes and the June rainfall and cooler summer temperatures during the year of hatching.

摘要:
This study is one of a series of studies made of the fisheries of the upper Mississippi River as part of the program of the Upper Mississippi River Conservation Committee. The scale method was validated for the species and growth rates were calculated. Latitude was not a factor in the growth of 902 sheepshead taken from navigation pools 4A, 8, 10, and 17. Growth rates within different areas of the same pool and from pool to pool were sufficiently alike so that the growth from Lake Pepin to Muscatine, Iowa, can be considered uniform.

摘要:
A study has been made of the toxic substances which may be found in kraft pulp-mill waste-waters. It has been determined that the sulphides, mercaptans, resin acid soaps, and sodium hydroxide constitute the greatest hazard. The minimum lethal concentration of these and other materials to fresh-water minnows, Daphnia, and aquatic insect larvae has been established. Methods have been devised for evaluating these materials in kraft-waste waters, and data from the examination of the wastes of a typical northern kraft mill are presented.
