摘要:
The histochemistry of glycoconjugates in the nasolabial skin of the goat has been studied by means of a series of selected methods of light microscopy. The epidermis of the nasolabial skin was found to contain neutral and acid glycoconjugates with different saccharide residues. The secretory epithelial cells and secretory substances of the sebaceous glands contained primarily neutral glycoconjugates, whereas those of the apocrine glands involved largely strongly acidic and neutral glycoconjugates. In the epithelial cells and secretory substances of the nasolabial eccrine glands, glycoconjugates involved were characteristically strongly neutral but weakly acidic in nature. From the present results, the histophysiological significance of glycoconjugates in the particular histologic structures of the nasolabial skin has been discussed with special reference to the functions of this particular skin type in the goat.

摘要:
Experimental liver injury was provoked in test rats with intraperitoneal injections of D-galactosamine. Traumatized rats received further intraperitoneal injections of Hepasor, a protoberberine alkaloid mixture from Enantia chlorantha (Annonaceae). Biochemical assays from blood plasma, serum alanine transferase, serum alkaline phosphatase, serum creatinine, serum hydroxyproline and serum calcium were done and liver and kidney samples for histological processing were taken. The biochemical results obtained indicate a marked influence by Hepasor on the serum alanine transferase activities and serum hydroxyproline values in female rats, but more accidental ones in male rats. A reduction in serum alkaline phosphatase activity and the serum creatinine values was also found, being also dependent on sex. The histological findings in the liver sections of female rats show that 1 week Hepasor therapy greatly furthers the healing process in a D-galactosamine-pretraumatized liver, eliminating megalocytosis, contraction of chromatines and other disorders in the cell architecture. The inhibitory effect of Hepasor on proceeded traumatization caused by D-galactosamine was nearly complete.

摘要:
A method is described for the histochemical detection of horseradish peroxidase in Paraplast Plus® embedded brain sections. The procedure uses 150-µm-thick Vibratome-cut slices of glutaraldehyde-paraformaldehyde-fixed brain tissue. Tetramethylbenzidine stabilized by diaminobenzidine/cobalt/H202 is used as chromogen. The Vibratome-cut slices are dehydrated through a graded series of acetone, cleared in toluol and flat-embedded in Paraplast Plus embedding medium. Serial sections can be cut as thin as 5–7 µm.The method is universal in its application and permits optimal visualization of labeled neurons with great morphological detail at the light-microscopic l

摘要:
The occurrence, distribution and ontogeny of nerves displaying calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP)-like immunoreactivity were studied in the male reproductive tract of rats. A marked regional difference in number of CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers was observed in the epididymis. The immunoreactive nerve fibers were particularly numerous in the cauda epididymidis, where the nerves were found in the capsular and interstitial connective tissue and further in the smooth muscle layer and the subepithelial connective tissue surrounding the duct. In the remaining portions of the reproductive tract proximal and distal to the epididymis, CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers were scarcely found in the connective tissues surrounding the duct, although a small number of the CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers was constantly found adjacent to small blood vessels throughout the male reproductive tract. CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers in the epididymis were first detected at embryonic day 18 when thin bundles or single fibers were evenly distributed in the interstitial connective tissue of the entire epididymal duct. A marked regional difference in number of CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers seen in the adult epididymis was established by postnatal day 14. In the epididymis of young rats treated neonatally with capsaicin, CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers were almost completely absent. This finding together with the distribution pattern of CGRP-immunoreactive nerve fibers different from that of the autonomic nerves so far reported strongly suggests that the immunoreactive nerves were sensory in nature.
