摘要:
The article presents the results of cartographic analyses of the parameters of glacierization of the peri‐Antarctic islands located within the zone of iceberg drift. Data presented include the areas of the islands, area of glacier cover, ice thickness, and ice reserves, on the basis of marine basins. The area of the glacier cover amounts to 25,566 km2, the total reserves of ice amount to 5737 km (water equivalent). The area of glacier ice represents only about 20% of that of ice bodies of similar morphology located within the ice‐shelf belt around the continent. Glacier ice is very scarce on islands in the southern Indian Ocean. The extent of glacier cover on the peri‐Antarctic islands is greater than on polar islands in the northern hemisphere, which are situated in higher latitudes.

摘要:
Stationary polynyas play an important role in the ice regime of the peripheral Antarctic seas. The article deals with their classification based on their seasonal rhythms of development, which represent a complex process of thermodynamic interaction between ocean and atmosphere. Domination of thermal processes over dynamic processes in the formation of polynyas is described. The dynamics of coastal glaciers play an important role in polynya formation. Data on their variations over the past 20 years are presented. The results were obtained by analysis of satellite imagery showing the development of 110 stationary polynyas near the coasts of Antarctica. The influence of the calving of icebergs on the development of polynyas is demonstrated.

摘要:
Changes in the numbers and species composition in cores taken from Holocene sediments from the bed of the Chukchi Sea permit the identification of five distinct diatom complexes. They may be related to sea level fluctuations (and hence to greater or lesser influx of Pacific water through Bering Strait) and associated climatic fluctuations during the past 12,000 years.

摘要:
Palynological investigations of late Quaternary deposits in an exposure near Anyuysk on the Malyy Anyuy River in the Kolyma Lowlands permitted the identification of two cold phases in the development of the vegetation, corresponding to the Zyryan and Sartan intervals, and two warm phases, corresponding to the Kargin and Early Holocene periods. Studies of the palynology of an exposure on the middle course of the Alazeya revealed vegetation changes reflecting changing climatic conditions during the Holocene; specifically vegetation associations that grew here during the Preboreal, Boreal, Atlantic and Subboreal could be identified.

摘要:
A marine regression synchronous with and associated with the late‐Pleistocene Sartan Glaciation exposed large areas of the shelf in the Chukchi and East Siberian seas; areas of the sea bed now lying at depths of up to 50–55 m were exposed. The article discusses the evidence provided by former shorelines and drainage systems detectable on the sea bed, and relates the various shorelines to Holocene climatic oscillations. Arguments for and against the possibility of Holocene sea levels having been higher than at present are weighed.

摘要:
The morphology of the New Siberian Islands and of the adjacent sea bed provides clear evidence of the existence of a former ice sheet whose center was located north of the archipelago. Much of the material involved in the glaciotectonic structures of the islands was derived from the depression in the sea bed to the north of Bunge Land and Novaya Sibir’. Substantiating evidence is provided by the pattern and peculiarities of glacial meltwater channels and by the evidence of isostatic rebound. Holocene silts overlying compacted sediments on the bed of the East Siberian Sea would suggest that the glaciation occurred in the late Pleistocene.

摘要:
Studies of foraminifera from exposed sections and drillhole cores from Quaternary sediments on the Chelyuskin Peninsula (northern part of Taimyr Peninsula) reveal the presence of two marine horizons: a Sanchugov and a Kazantsev horizon, i.e., of mid‐Pleistocene age. No evidence of younger, i.e., upper Pleistocene, deposits were found in the field area.

摘要:
Extensive fieldwork and analytical work (including 352 radiocarbon dates) have added greatly to our knowledge of the Quaternary of the North Siberian Lowland. The oldest deposits are those (probably mid‐Pleistocene in age) forming the three ridge‐like uplands in the Lowland. Marine deposits overlying the slopes of these ridges and the intervening depressions are widespread but cannot be dated positively since all radiocarbon dates are minimum dates, but they probably date to Kazantsev time, i.e., to 125,000–80,000 years B.P. approximately. A subsequent marine regression led to a great deal of rejuvenation and erosion; no deposits from this time were found. Considerable thicknesses of interglacial Kargin deposits (47,000–25,000 years B.P.) are found in the lake basins and river valleys. During the Sartan Glaciation the associated marine regression led to further rejuvenation and erosion. No traces of glaciation from this time were found in the central part of the North Siberian Lowland.
