The paper considers the bias in estimates of the frequency-response function of the forward element in linear, time-invariant feedback systems, subjected to a disturbance in the forward loop. A very simple criterion is developed which determines whether or not an estimate will be subjected to bias. This criterion is used to examine particular examples. Simulation results verify the main conclusion

摘要:
The paper reports on a collaborative, university/industry project to investigate the contribution which modern control technology can make to a difficult industrial problem: pH control. A digital computer was interfaced for online neutralisation of effluent from a full-scale production process. The investigation consisted of trials, some of them extended, using the computer to control neutralisation according to various algorithms and to monitor performance, and of simulation studies. Algorithms investigated include p.i.d., self-tuning control, and optimal-k-step-ahead (o.k.) adaptive control. The paper summarises work to date which leads to the conclusion that an online digital computer can contribute substantially to pH control and that o.k. control is a promising candidate for general-purpose feedback within a configuration of combined feedbadk, feeciforwardancilineansation

摘要:
The dual problems of designing state observers and state-feedback laws for bilinear systems are considered. Subsequently, the synthesis of dynamic controllers using state observers is discussed. In each case, global asymptotic stability of the complete system is pursued using a Lyapunov approach. The design is essentially reduced to finding a class of positive-definite matrices satisfying a given set of equality and inequality constraints. To each matrix satisfying these constraints there corresponds a class of controllers which globally stabilise the closed-loop system

Bounds for the elements of the sensitivity matrixS(jω)of a system compensated by the inverse Nyquist array method will be found and a graphical technique will be presented for determining areas in the complex plane in which the diagonal elementsSii(jω)ofS(jω)lie. A graphical method is also described for determining frequency intervals in which the norm ‖S(jω)‖-(or ‖S(jω)‖1) of the sensitivity matrix is less than one. The application of the proposed techniques is illustrated in two examples
