摘要:
The paper presents a procedure for approximation of a high-order system with rational transfer function by a low-order system with rational transfer function together with a pure time delay. The procedure introduces a delay into the system output and computes the low-order transfer function using truncation of a certain balanced realisation. Error bounds are obtained for both continuous-time and discrete-time cases and one part of the error bound is independent of the reduced-order rational transfer function so that it can be evaluated in advance, thereby aiding the selection of suitable delays. Some examples are presented to illustrate the method, which can be applied to multivariable as well as scalar plants.

摘要:
New expressions are given for analytical solutions to the steady-state gains of the two-state exponentially correlated velocity (ECV) and three-state exponentially correlated acceleration (ECA) tracking filters with continuous-time position measurements. The present solution method is based on a transfer-function approach, and there is no need to know about the knowledge of the estimation error covariance. For a case when the steady-state error covariance or RMS error value is desired, such gains can be incorporated with the algebraic Riccati equation.

摘要:
The paper examines the potential of hybrid electric vehicles and, in particular, a hybrid electric passenger car. Two operating objectives are identified, one for energy saving and the other for substituting petroleum fuel by electrical energy. The way in which the power train control and component rating can be optimised to meet these particular operating objectives is discussed. In the final part of the paper the performance of the optimised hybrid vehicles are compared with both IC engine and electric vehicles and the petroleum substitution design is shown to warrant further development.

摘要:
A design algorithm is introduced to synthesise a discrete time LQG optimal controller subject to design constraints requiring (i) complete and arbitrary stable poles placement, (ii) some zeros assignment, and (iii) input-output decoupling. The zeros placement is partially used to deal with the deterministic reference tracking and disturbances rejection problems. In the paper, the Wiener-Hopf technique is employed and two weighting matrices are shaped by the inverse optimal control method, so that the controller is optimal with respect to the chosen weighting matrices and achieves the above three goals simultaneously.
