摘要:
A woman developed a severe generalized polyneuropathy in acute lithium intoxication. Nerve conduction studies suggested an axonal neuropathy. Her peripheral nerve problem became manifest after treatment had already started; therefore, a high serum lithium level is not considered to be the only factor for the development of a severe polyneuropathy in lithium intoxication.

Visual (V), somatosensory (S) and brainstem auditory (BA) evoked potentials (EPs) were determined in 22 epileptic patients, mostly with partial seizures, who received add-on treatment with vigabatrin (1–3 g/day, stratified according to body weight) and placebo, each given for 7 weeks according to a double-blind, randomized cross-over design. At pretreatment assessment, BAEPs and SEPs were found to be within normal limits in most of the patients tested, while for VEPs several abnormal responses were found, including a marked prolongation of P100 latency values in the majority of cases. None of the EP parameters examined was significantly influenced by vigabatrin treatment. These results support the evidence that enhancement of GABA-ergic transmission does not substantially affect the functional state of afferent sensory pathways as assessed by EP analysis. 摘要:
In 128 patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and 204 blood donors (control persons) the in vitro activation of ‘Ficoll-purified’ peripheral blood T lymphocytes was measured using the 3H-thymidine incorporation rate without (spontaneous proliferation) and with mitogen addition (concanavalin A, phytohemagglutinin). Mitogen responsiveness in control persons and MS patients decreased with age, reflecting a T-lymphocyte inherent mechanism for the diminution of responsiveness. The MS patients, ranging in age between 20 and 30 years, showed decreased mitogen responsiveness and a tendency to increased spontaneous proliferation compared to the control persons.
