The term histogeometry refers to a topographical regularity throughout the nervous system. The general properties of this pattern are revealed by sectioning the various structures in the appropriate planes. Neurons, groups of neurons, and fibres are discussed. The pattern originates in early stages of development. Spinal cord and cortex are discussed in some detail. Analogies are found in the retina and in the vegetable kingdom.

The angiographic patterns of some malformations of the brain, namely hydranencephaly, porencephaly, lobar holoprosencephaly, occipital en-cephalocele, Arnold-Chiari malformation and Dandy-Walker cyst, are described and the diagnostic value of angiography in these various malformations of infants is emphasized. The aims of this paper are: (1) to show the angiographic findings in certain malformations of the brain in infants, and (2) to stress the value of angiography in identifying these malformations, which on the clinical may be mistaken for hydrocephalus.

The autors present the results of studies on the behavior of oxidative and glycolytic enzymes in muscles of newborn rabbits, whose mothers have been rendered anemic during pregnancy. The results show that the blood letting of the mother during pregnancy has no clear-cut effect on the metabolic differentiation of muscle fibres. The most markedly expressed differences between muscles of rabbits born of healthy mothers and those of mothers rendered anemic during pregnancy consist in the presence of very numerous myotubs: 80 to 90 % in the latter, 5 % in the control group.

The fine structure of the red and white muscle cells of the newborn rabbit after chronic anaemia during foetal life has been studied. The changes in the structure both red and white muscle were similar and consisted in the swelling and vacuolisation of the mitochondria and sarcoplasmic reticulum as well as in the destruction of miofibrils. The most characteristic feature was the presence of numerous immature muscle cells in the stage of myotube and myoblast and the absence of differences in the structure between the red and white muscles. This observation showed that chronic anaemia in foetal life seems to be one of the exogenous factors causing modifications in the muscle development.
