AbstractSuccessful milieu treatment requires the creative modification of traditional theory and technique to the partial hospitalization program.The Quilt‐Work Theory is a milieu approach to partial hospitalization treatment that explains why this modality is the treatment of choice for particular patients. The Quilt‐Work Theory enables the trained mental health professional to operate as a professional in a generalist team, by applying traditional concepts to this nontraditional treatment forum.
