Some years ago Steyn-Ross and Ridell reported how they had studied the standing waves in a microwave oven. The pictures in the 1990

摘要:
We present a simple apparatus for demonstrating Lenz’s law in which we obtain data of distance fallen by a magnet as a function of time. A computer mouse serves as an interface between the apparatus and the computer to provide real-time data.

摘要:
Traditionally, the period of the pendulum has been studied experimentally by suspending a bob on a thin, light string, displacing the bob until the string makes an angle Θ with the vertical, and then releasing the bob.

摘要:
There are many different approaches to teaching K-12 science. With so many possibilities, picking the best approach is like trying to find a needle in a haystack — very difficult, unless you use magnets.

摘要:
There I was in my reading chair for the first time in a new house and while looking out the window was unsettled to notice not one but two virtual images. This itself wasn’t so suprising since I knew the window was double glazed; instead, it was that the two images had different sizes. Why should this be?

摘要:
The parallel-axis theorem implies that the period of a physical pendulum is the same for all locations of the axis equidistant from the center of mass. This can be demonstrated for the simple geometry of a rectangular plate with a concentric hole, where a knife edge supports the plate at different points along the rim of the hole.

摘要:
An order-of-magnitude estimate of the size of red blood cells is obtained by locating a distant object whose height in the visual field matches that of an eye floater and then calculating the retinal image height of that object.
